“Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.”
― Dalai Lama XIV
What do you need to be happy?
More Money? Love? A good job? Marriage?… Depending on who you ask and when you ask, the answer you get would be different.
Even when you ask yourself this question, you’d have different answers depending on what stage of your life you’re in and what you want to accomplish
But life’s ups and downs means basing your happiness on things outside your control is a way to live frustrated. There’s always going to be something you don’t have, something out of reach and sometimes we prioritise that over what we have.
Happiness isn’t about external events but from within and most importantly, it’s a skill you can learn and develop…so pay close attention.
To live your best life, you need to realize that happiness doesn’t happen to you—it happens because of you(deep)
That is why we are sharing these 4 daily happiness habits in the hopes that they would inspire you to bring your own happiness no matter what is happening around you
1. There’s always a silver lining… find it: Every cloud has a silver lining – sounds cheesy I know, but it’s the truth. Finding it can sometimes be hard but they’re always there if you look properly.(You’d usually see it better after some time has passed)
Some of the “awful” things not going your way now have a lesson in it – find it. This is why you can be embarassed today about something and laugh about that same incident down the line. learning to look for the lesson daily in situation that don’t go your way is a happiness habit to adopt
2.Take a walk…please(in nature preferably): You see I’m begging right, In our current society where work is more sit in front of a PC than ever, you have to learn to move more. Bonus points if you walk in nature (but be safe ahbeg)
Fun fact: Nature is said to have a natural frequency pulsation of 7.83 hertz on average (the so-called Schumann resonance).
This frequency (7.83 hertz) is supposedly also the brain’s average alpha frequency. The alpha state is where we feel relaxed and calm. Pretty epic, right? So, make it a daily habit to walk in nature and tune yourself into a happier and more relaxed version of yourself.
You see..
3.Take 100 percent responsibility: When things are going wrong for you, The easiest thing to do is find someone else to blame, criticize, or make an excuse that exonerates you completely. But what this does is make you feel helpless about the situation. Taking 100 % responsibility is how you can regain some form of control. Look at any area in your life that you’re not okay with (your finances, health, career, love, social life, etc.). Find a way to take full responsibility for changing it. Even if someone else is to blame – bubu for instance– for a situation, the only way you can change things is by taking responsibility for what’s within your control.
What can you do to help you? Start there.
4. Make a conscious effort to stop complaining: The serenity prayer comes to mind
“ God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
If you don’t like something, change it. If you’re unable to change it, your only option is to change your attitude about it – shikena
These four habits are easy to do and wouldn’t happen overnight for you. I mean it takes some learning as with everything new. We hope you can add them slowly to your daily habit and see the changes it brings for you.
When you’re happy, we’re happy 🙂
