I changed the word “rule” to “law” in the title of this post – Here’s why.
When you think of rules, it is man made and you would agree with me that there is no rule on earth that humans have not broken knowingly or unknowingly.
Our cultures, beliefs and inheld bias influences the making of rules and since it falls on the most imperfect creatures – humans to uphold those rules, we see rules affecting one social class and not everyone involved
Laws on the other hand are not man made(how I choose to see it). They are constant around the world. A law is what governs the very fabric of nature. For example, the law of gravity remains constant no matter where you are on earth, if you throw something up, the laws of gravity means it is bound to fall down.
Life itself is governed by laws and it is these laws that determine whether or not we as humans attain greatness.
When you study the lives of the greatest men and women that have come and gone by going through their biographies and teachings, you’d discover similarities and how they obeyed certain laws.
These laws are what set them apart as high achievers and we hope that sharing 9 of them with you would do the same.
9 Unbreakable Laws for High Achievers
- Avoid comparing your life with the lives of others and don’t judge: To be a high achiever, you have to be yourself always and become the best version of you. You are an original, not a counterfeit. While at this, avoid judging other people’s choices, decisions and indecisions as you have no idea what their journey is all about.
- Don’t act on your feelings: There is a saying that action precedes feeling. If you feel sad, acting like you are happy will eventually make you happy. One mistake we make about high achievers is thinking “oh they have it all together” “they don’t have my problems that’s why they are happy all the time” But high achievers get their own share of disappointment and they fail many many times, but since they are very optimistic people, they see the good in adversity and make the best of every situation – as you should.
- Make Peace with Your Past: Everyone has something in their past they are not particularly proud of. As humans, we’ve all made mistakes – what separates us from high achievers is how forgiving high achievers are. If you cannot forgive yourself for your past and keep beating yourself up, you’d never make progress.Forgiveness is the first step to growth and only those with a strong heart can forgive themselves and those who have hurt them. Move forward today and stop fighting with the past.
- Don’t believe promises to “get rich quick” or instant results: It’s all over the internet. How I made x amount in 2 days or pay 10k and get 45k in 10 minutes.Unless you win the lottery, there is nothing you can do in this world that gets you rich in a jiffy. If it sounds too good to be true, then it is. So many people have gone into debt trying to get rich quick. The only person who gets rich quick from a get rich quick scheme is the owner of the scheme – not you. This also goes for losing weight or getting any worthwhile results. It takes time to get those results.
- You can’t do everything by yourself: If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go with others – that’s a quote and I don’t know who said it but it’s true. To be a high achiever, you have to be able to influence others. Your level of influence in most cases determines your level of success. Make meaningful symbiotic relationships and help others get what they want. This is how you get what you want. Key word – Symbiotic
- Avoid Envy and Jealousy in every form: I mix these two terms a lot because I think they go hand in hand. When we see people living the life we think we want, we are too focused on the outcome.Very few of us question the price that was paid in either time, dedication, focus and money. You want to be the next Cristiano or Messi but when you read their biographies and see what they went through, do you see yourself being able to pay that price? They say that not all that glitters is gold. The truth is that you don’t know how he/she got what he/she has or the price they had to pay in exchange for it. Think about this next time you are feeling envious.
-
Be comfortable only outside of your comfort zone: On the other side of the comfort you enjoy is the growth you seek. Try to do something everyday that scares you but makes you better. Break your own records, keep challenging yourself. This is the gateway to tremendous self-improvement. It is a big secret of high achievers.
-
Stop caring about what others say about you: What matters most in life is your belief in yourself. Human beings will always talk about you and what you are doing or not doing well. You should be worried if they don’t talk about you because it means you’re probably not worth much or you’re such a people pleaser. Ignore whatever anyone has to say about you and hold firm what you know and believe about yourself.
-
Honesty is a very expensive gift. Don’t expect it from everyone: This one’s from the great Warren Buffet’s. Do not expect too much from people–only a few people have that virtue called integrity. You can be one of those few but don’t expect it in everyone.
