“Each day you wake up, you wake up with billions around the world but when the sun sets, not all retire. It is a joyful privilege to note that you are a unique person among billions of people who wake up each day to walk on the surface of the earth. It is a noble responsibility to note that you have to use this privilege effectively.”
― Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Life is a chain event of what we do daily. Our decisions and indecisions each and everyday while we are here on earth shapes our past and creates our futures.
I believe you already have your routines. We all do, Things that take your time from the moment you’re up till you go to bed at night.
The older you get, the busier you get. Habits that should be ingrained to help you live healthier get ignored until you’re forced to visit the hospital or worse… look back and realise you’ve not really “lived” your life.
To that effect, These are 8 practices you should make a part of your daily ritual
1) Get your heart rate up first thing in the morning.
How do you raise your heart rate? – Exercise. Exercise helps your body to move blood and oxygen to your muscles efficiently. The older you get, It becomes more important you have a healthy heart, as that leads to a longer life, better sleep, and immune system works better at preventing of diseases. This leads to number 2.
2) Break a sweat.
Did you know the simple act of sweating helps detox your body? Strengthens your immune system, and boost mental awareness? – Now you do. What you might not know is that sweating releases endorphins which is a natural pain reliever, and boosts blood flow to your muscles. This improves recovery. You should endeavour to work up some sweat daily.
3) Heavy lifting (within reason)
I had to put “within reason” as a disclaimer. No go wound yourself talk say na SIRF send you
Back to business, when you lift Heavy objects, you are strengthening your bone density which helps prevent injuries. It also helps you build muscle mass and burn calories needed to live a healthy lifestyle.
Lifting heavy weights also tests your mental strength as much as your physical strength.
4) Embrace your Fears.
We all have fears and things that scares us just thinking about it. Sometimes the fear is vald – like a fear of heights, the fear of being devoured by a wild animal if you lived in the prehistoric age, i.e. Real physical fears.
We also have fears that are “unreasonable” – the fear of what people would say if you started a new business, took that cause, tried learning a new skill, look stupid doing something for the first time – most of these fears are worst since we build it up inn our heads
But remember, embracing your “unreasonable fears” by facing them daily gives you untapped potential. How can you ever know what you are capable of if you are too scared to find out? Overcoming fears help you develop courage, wisdom, and compassion and failure can be life’s best teaching tool.
5) Do Something that is YOUR idea of fun.
We are unique in our own special way. There is a child in each and every one of us. It is important to let the inner child in you out from time to time and simply have fun. Having fun helps your body immediately by reducing stress, increasing your serotonin levels. It also helps you deal with stress, boost your energy levels, memory, and concentration.
It’s a whole lot of fun.
6) 3 Hearty Cheers.
Laughter reduces stress, anxiety, and other negative emotions. Life’s tough, but finding things that make you laugh daily is a must. Brooding all day wouldnt help make things any less worse(but are things really that bad you can’t find something to laugh about?)
The sheer act of laughing puts you in a good mood, it’s contagious, and draws more positive energy your way. Every time you laugh you are literally improving your physical and mental health.
Skip the news every once in a while and watch a comedy shows.
7) Talk to strangers.
The goal? – Talk to 3 strangers a day. It could be a compliment, in person, online – just interact with new people. Strangers can offer you a unique perspective into the world around you and have so much to teach us. Your best friends were once strangers, so is your life partner. Imagine if you never connected with them? Just imagine
8) Be Youself(the best version).
The most important part of your life is when you find out who you are and why you are here on earth.
The answer to this is different for all of us and you’ll never know until you actively search for it. Why are you here on earth? Definitely not to live someone’s idea of what “life” it but yours.
