“One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.” – Dale Carnegie
Procrastination is simply avoiding something you set out to do knowing that you would be worse for it.
Procrastination is an avoidance strategy and you don’t have to feel alone if you suffer from this
In fact, Everyone suffers (procrastinates) from this, just that some of us have it worse than others.
Procrastination does not mean you are lazy: It’s just a symptom of misalignment, not laziness
Procrastination is not done by accident. It is a conscious effort, however, we try to defeat it with willpower and if you’ve noticed, That doesn’t work for long. Willpower does not continue forever… It is limited, It is a push that does not ls long.
To really defeat procrastination, you need to find the root source of the problem and lucky for you, We’ve done the digging on your behalf
Fear is the root of all procrastination, and believe it or not, this is robbing you of days you could use to do other things and enjoy life(remember it is finite, yeah?)
How are you losing days?
If you procrastinate for 3 hours a day That’s 84 hours a month and 45 days a year
What if you procrastinate for much longer? It means you’ve been robbing yourself of more days.
Let’s start with getting to the root of procrastination by looking at your “procrastination personality”
Shocking right? We all procrastinate but we do it differently. I’m a number 5 on this list
5 different procrastination types
1.The perfectionist: it must be perfect or the “right time” that never comes
2.The Dreamer: Enjoys making the ideal plan than doing the work “it would be amazing if”
3.The Saboteur: Does everything to avoid proving themself writing. you cant do it
4.The crisis Junkie: Deadline monster – juggles lots of new projects, pushes last minute deadlines
Every type above has its own trigger that causes you to procrastinate and the cure
Knowing what type of procrastinator you are, helps you understand the type of fear you are avoiding and gives you a way to face them head-on.
Think of all you will accomplish once you defeat procrastination, and go get started doing things that move you forward.
