The International Women’s Day is a global annual event celebrated on the 8th of March 2021. Still I Rise Foundation has made it a ritual to celebrate women who are working hard to fend for their families regardless of the economic situation of the country. The year 2021 International Women’s Day was celebrated in Osogbo, Osun state with hashtag #SIRFWoman. The beneficiaries for this project were strictly Traders who were stationed at Igbona Market at Olorunda Local government Area, Osogbo, Osun State. The aim of the project was to sensitize 10 market traders on the importance of personal hygiene and give them bags containing essential sanitary items for women.
Team members went out to the market that morning and randomly spoke to some women about their hygiene, putting into consideration that their trade exposes them to harmful germs and diseases daily. After speaking with these women, they were each presented with a bag containing an apron, waist pouch, caps, towels, gloves, sanitary pad, sponge, body spray and other sanitary items. They were also given cash gifts of 10,000 naira each.
The women were extremely excited and grateful. Words of prayers were said for the foundation and her entire team members.
