Easter is the most important Christian festival. It celebrates Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead, three days after he was executed by crucifixion. It is the fulfillment of the prophecy in Isaiah 53, about the savior who was going to come and would be bruised for our transgressions, diseases, Pains so that we wouldn’t have to bear them again. They were all nailed with Him on the cross.
Easter is Jesus Christ’s victory over death. His resurrection symbolizes the eternal life that is entitled to all who believe in Him. It means a newness for us who are in Christ.
The meaning of Easter also symbolizes the complete verification of all that Jesus preached and taught during His three and half years ministry. All other religious leaders are in their graves. The grave couldn’t hold our savior Jesus Christ the son of the living God. He has resurrected! If He had died and not been resurrected, He would have been considered just another random teacher or Rabbi like John the Baptist his fore-runner or his disciples.
In John chapter 20, we are told that Mary Magdalene came to the tomb where Jesus was buried and found it empty. An angel told her that Christ has risen. Also in 1st Corinthians chapter 15:14, it says “And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.”
His resurrection changed all that and gave final and irrefutable proof that He was really the Son of the most high God. The empty tomb of Christ is what gives us Christians hope that there will be life after death and that God will judge the world in righteousness.
In The temple, a veil separated the Holy of Holies from the rest of the temple where men dwelt. Only the high priest was permitted to pass beyond this veil once each year. The veil being torn means that Christians can approach God’s throne through prayer without the need of a human mediator or priest. His own blood, was a sufficient atonement for sins.
Hebrew 10:19-20 says “we have confidence to enter the most holy place, by the blood of Jesus by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain which is his body “. Jesus bore all our sins, diseases, Pains so that we wouldn’t have to bear them again. They were all nailed with Him on the cross. His resurrection means a newness for us who are in Christ that is why if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. It means everything he’s done in the past, the old things are passed away and all things are become new. This is made possible because he laid down his life for us.
By this; a life in Christ is an assurance for eternal life. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Romans 8:1.
